We use the IP address of your device and the other data listed above for the following purposes:
ensuring a smooth connection setup,
ensuring a comfortable use of our website/application,
evaluating system security and stability.
The data is stored for a period of 7 days and then automatically deleted. In addition, we use cookies, analysis tools and targeting methods on our website, as explained in more detail under section 3.3.
3.2. Other contact
If you contact us in relation to the application procedure by telephone, e-mail, post or in another way, we will also process your personal data, e.g. name, address, telephone number as well as the content of your message, in particular also your application documents, if you have provided them to us in one of the ways mentioned above.
This information will be processed solely for the purpose of properly handling your enquiry. Your data will only be used to the extent necessary for this purpose. If necessary to answer your enquiry, your data may be passed on to another company in the STIHL Group.
The legal basis for the processing of the data described above is the initiation of an employment relationship. In the context of initiating such an employment relationship, it is necessary for us to process the data you provide.

Your application data will be stored and deleted as described in section 3.2.
3.3. Online presence and website optimisation
3.3.1. Cookies – General information
To make visiting our websites attractive and to enable the use of certain functions, we use so-called cookies on various pages. These are small text files that are stored on your device. Some of the cookies we use are deleted after the end of the browser session, i.e. after you close your browser (so-called session cookies). Other cookies remain on your device and enable us or our partner companies to recognise your browser on your next visit (so-called persistent cookies). Cookies do not allow access to other files on your computer or enable us to determine your e-mail address.
The cookies listed in the cookie information are used on this website.
Where we use cookies that are strictly necessary for the provision of our websites, the legal basis for the processing of personal data using these cookies is our legitimate interest.
Processing of personal data by means of cookies for marketing purposes or for the creation of statistics will only take place if you have given us your consent.
You can revoke this consent at any time without stating reasons, by adjusting the permitted functionalities via the link provided.
Cookies are stored on your device and you have full control over their use. By changing the settings in your internet browser, you can deactivate or restrict the transmission of cookies. Cookies that have already been stored can be deleted at any time. This can also be done automatically. If cookies are deactivated for our websites, you may no longer be able to use all the functions of the websites in full.
3.3.2. Web analysis with Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). The entity responsible for users in the EU/EEA and Switzerland is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics uses cookies that enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
STIHL’s website uses Google Analytics with the extension “anonymize IP”. This means that your IP address collected by the Google Analytics cookie will be shortened by Google within the member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transferred to the USA. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.
On behalf of STIHL, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website usage and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser within the framework of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data using cookies is your consent. This consent can be withdrawn at any time as described above by adjusting your cookie preferences.
You can also delete cookies already stored in your browser settings at any time. If you do so, you may no longer be able to fully use all the functions of the websites.
Further information on terms of use and data protection can be found at:
www.google.com/analytics/terms/ and
www.google.com/intl/en/analytics/privacyoverview.html.
3.3.3. Google Optimize
We use the “Google Optimize” service of Google (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) on our website. The service enables us to improve the attractiveness, content and functionality of our website by showing new functions and content to a certain percentage of our users and statistically evaluating changes in website usage. Google Optimize is a sub-service of Google Analytics (see section 3.3.2).
When using the service, cookies are set. The information generated about your use of our website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) and stored there. We use Google Optimize with IP anonymisation enabled, so that your IP address is shortened by Google within the EU/EEA. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.
Google will use this information to evaluate your use of our website, to compile reports on optimisation tests and the related website activities, and to provide us with other services relating to website and internet usage.
The legal basis for the data processing is your consent. This consent can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future by adjusting your settings in the Consent Manager.
3.3.4. Facebook Conversion Tracking Pixel
As part of usage-based online advertising, we use the Custom Audiences service of Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. For this purpose, we define user groups in the Facebook Ads Manager based on certain characteristics, who are then shown advertisements within the Facebook network.
Users are selected by Facebook based on the profile information they provide as well as other data provided through the use of Facebook. If a user clicks on an advertisement and is redirected to our website, Facebook receives the information via the embedded Facebook pixel that the user has clicked on the advertising banner.
In general, a non-reversible and non-personal checksum (hash value) is generated from your usage data, which is transmitted to Facebook for analysis and marketing purposes. A Facebook cookie is set, which collects information about your activities on our website (e.g. browsing behaviour, subpages visited, etc.). Your IP address is also stored and used for geographical targeting of advertising.
We do not use Facebook Custom Audiences based on customer lists, nor do we use the “extended matching” function.
The legal basis for the processing of your personal data by means of the Facebook pixel is your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time, as described above under section 3.3.1, by adjusting your cookie preferences accordingly.
You can also delete cookies that have already been stored in your browser settings at any time. If you do so, you may no longer be able to fully use all the functions of our websites.
Further information on data processing by Facebook can be found at:
https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy
3.3.5. YouTube Video Integration
We use the services of YouTube, LLC (“YouTube”), a company belonging to Google, on our website. We use the extended data protection mode option provided by YouTube. This means that when you access a page in which a YouTube video is embedded, a connection is established to the YouTube servers and the content is displayed on the website by means of communication to your browser. According to YouTube, in “privacy-enhanced mode” data is transmitted to the YouTube server only when you actively start a video.
If you are logged in to YouTube at the same time, information about the videos you view will be assigned to your member account at YouTube. You can prevent this by logging out of your member account before visiting our website.
YouTube stores your data as usage profiles and uses them for purposes of advertising, market research and/or the customised design of its website. Such evaluation is carried out in particular (even for users who are not logged in) to provide tailored advertising and to inform other users of the social network about your activities on our website. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles, but must contact YouTube to exercise this right.
By integrating YouTube videos, we pursue our legitimate interest in making our website more interesting and appealing for our visitors and in ensuring a better presentation of our content.
The legal basis for the use of the plug-in is our legitimate interest.
Further information on the purpose and scope of data collection and its processing by YouTube can be found in YouTube’s privacy policy. It also provides further information about your rights and the settings available to protect your privacy:

3.3.6. Job offers on social networks and recruitment platforms
We also publish our job offers on business networks (Xing and LinkedIn) as well as on StepStone, Azubiyo, and meinPraktikum.de. On the networks or job websites mentioned, our job offers are displayed only as links. If you click on one of the respective links, you will be redirected to our online application tool. Detailed information on the processing of your personal data in connection with the online application can be found under section 3 of this privacy information. All data that you provide to us as part of an online application is processed exclusively by us and not passed on to third parties. We have no knowledge of any other processing of data by the providers of the respective platforms. Please note that the links integrated on our website are simple hyperlinks. Data processing by the platforms only takes place when you actually access them. We would like to point out that when using business networks, the respective providers gain access to your personal data. This includes data that is processed when visiting the network itself and in connection with your activity on that network or website. This data may also be used for market research and advertising purposes. We have no further knowledge of the processing of your data by the providers of these platforms. The data processed when using such networks or websites may also be transferred outside the European Economic Area. In the event of such transfer, it is always encrypted and based on the so-called Standard Contractual Clauses of the European Commission. Our job offers on Indeed
We also publish our job offers on Indeed. In this context, we use the conversion tracking service of Indeed Ireland Operations Limited, 124 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2, Ireland. If you click on a job advertisement posted by us on Indeed, a cookie (conversion cookie) is set on your computer. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not intended to identify individuals. They are used to recognise how many applications received came from our advertisements on Indeed.
The information collected by means of the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for us. We thereby learn the total number of users who clicked on our advertisement and submitted an application. However, we do not receive any information that can personally identify users.
If you do not wish to participate in conversion tracking, you can refuse this by deactivating cookies in your browser settings. You will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics.
The legal basis for processing personal data using Indeed conversion tracking is your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time, as described above in section 3.3.1, by adjusting your cookie preferences accordingly.

3.3.7. Mouseflow web analysis tool
On our website we use Mouseflow, a web analysis tool of Mouseflow ApS, Flaesketorvet 68, 1711 Copenhagen, Denmark. Certain randomly selected visits are recorded, and the anonymous IP address of the visitor is transmitted to the provider. This allows us to record mouse movements and clicks, which can then be replayed as “session replays” or evaluated as “heatmaps”. In this way, we can derive possible improvements for our website. Surveys may also be displayed by Mouseflow to measure visitor satisfaction. Displaying surveys and participating in them is also controlled via a cookie set by the tool.
Use of this tool only takes place on the basis of your consent. This consent may be withdrawn at any time as described above by adjusting your cookie settings.
Further information on data protection at Mouseflow can be found at: https://mouseflow.com/privacy/
3.3.8. Oracle Eloqua
We use the Eloqua service for optimal customer communication. The Eloqua servers of the provider ORACLE Deutschland B.V. & Co. KG, Riesstrasse 25, 80992 Munich, are located in the EU. However, in the course of support and administration services, it cannot be excluded that certain employees of Oracle Corporation outside the EU may have access to user data in the course of providing contractual services. An adequate level of data protection at Oracle Corporation has been ensured by appropriate safeguards.
Eloqua places a permanent cookie on the respective login page unless an Eloqua cookie already exists on your device. If you have already used a website that uses Eloqua, you may already have an Eloqua cookie. We may use this cookie to analyse your use of our websites so that we can continuously improve them. E-mails sent using Eloqua use tracking technologies.
We mainly use these data to find out which topics are of interest to you by checking whether our e-mails are opened and which links you click. We then use this information to improve the e-mails we send to you and the services we provide, and to link them to existing information.
Data processing only takes place if you have expressly given your consent. The legal basis for processing is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by changing your cookie settings using the link provided on our cookie page.
Further information on data protection at Oracle Eloqua can be found at: https://www.oracle.com/legal/privacy/
3.4. Statistical analysis
STIHL also processes the personal data collected in order to create statistical evaluations. The purpose of these is to improve and further develop STIHL products and services, in particular product features, product safety, service quality, marketing as well as optimisation of the dealer network.
Only data that is necessary for the purposes described above is used for the evaluations. Where possible, data is pseudonymised or anonymised before use.
To increase the statistical value of the evaluations, STIHL combines this data with information on weather conditions and/or geographical characteristics from other data sources, such as weather and mapping services. The results of the evaluations are used exclusively in aggregated form and may also be shared in this form with other STIHL affiliated companies for the purposes described above.
No evaluations are made at customer level unless the customer has expressly consented to such use.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data for the statistical evaluations described above is our legitimate interest.
4. Recipients of your personal data
4.1. Recipients within the STIHL Group
In some cases, we transfer your personal data to other companies within the STIHL Group. As a rule, processing by these STIHL companies takes place on our behalf. The processing of your personal data may also take place under the sole responsibility of the receiving STIHL company or under joint responsibility with us.
Where we transfer your personal data to other controllers, this will generally only be done if it is necessary for the performance of a contract with you, if we or the third party have a legitimate interest in such transfer, or if you have given your consent.
Processing of your personal data by another STIHL company on our behalf is carried out on the basis of appropriate contractual agreements. In the case of joint responsibility, we conclude a joint controller agreement. The essential contents of this agreement are available to you upon request. To do so, please contact us at the contact details provided in section 2 of this privacy statement.
4.2. Recipients outside the STIHL Group (third parties)
In addition to recipients within the STIHL Group, we also transfer your personal data to third parties in connection with certain processing operations, in compliance with the statutory provisions on data protection.
These third parties include service providers who process your personal data on our behalf, as well as service providers who support us in the provision of services and are themselves responsible for processing your personal data. The processing of your personal data may also take place under the sole responsibility of these third parties or under joint responsibility with us.
Where we transfer your personal data to other controllers, this is generally only done if it is necessary for the performance of a contract with you, if we or a third party have a legitimate interest in such transfer, or if you have given your consent.
In connection with the processing of your personal data, we use the following categories of service providers:
IT service providers (e.g. hosting of data),
customer support services,
lawyers, auditors and tax consultants,
providers of marketing or user experience tools,
providers of HR management systems (for certain STIHL affiliates managing recruitment processes externally).
Where we are legally obliged to do so, we also transmit your personal data to authorities and courts.
Processing of your personal data by third parties on our behalf takes place on the basis of appropriate contractual agreements. In the case of joint responsibility, we conclude a joint controller agreement. The essential contents of this agreement are available to you upon request. To do so, please contact us at the contact details provided in section 2 of this privacy statement.
5. Data processing for advertising purposes – newsletter distribution
On our website we offer you the opportunity to subscribe to our newsletter. To ensure that no errors are made when entering your e-mail address, we use the so-called “double opt-in” procedure: after you have entered your e-mail address in the registration field, we will send you a confirmation link. Your e-mail address will only be added to our distribution list once you have clicked on this confirmation link.
The processing of the data you provide when subscribing to the newsletter takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. To do so, simply send us a short message by e-mail to the address specified in section 2, or click on the “Unsubscribe” button at the end of each newsletter.
We would like to inform you that when sending the newsletter we carry out success measurement and analyse your usage behaviour. For this purpose, the e-mails sent contain so-called web beacons or tracking pixels, which are stored on our servers and enable us to measure whether and when you open the messages. For these analyses, we link the data mentioned and the web beacons with your e-mail address.
In this way, we collect information about the basic usage of our newsletter, such as open rates, as well as detailed information on when you read our newsletter, which links you click on, and deduce your personal interests from this. If you do not wish such tracking, you can disable the display of images by default in your e-mail program. In this case, the newsletter will not be displayed in full and you may not be able to use all its features. If you choose to display the images manually, tracking as described above will take place.
In addition, we use other information we collect about you through your use of STIHL services (for example, when purchasing our products, registering a device or using our various apps) to personalise our newsletter. These data are used to tailor the content of the newsletter to your individual interests and needs as much as possible.
The legal basis for this data processing is your consent, given by subscribing to the newsletter. You may revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future by unsubscribing via the “Unsubscribe” button in the newsletter.
In some cases, we also give you the opportunity to subscribe to our newsletter via third-party websites (e.g. Facebook). In such cases, the data is collected by the respective provider and passed on to us. The way we process the data does not change, so the information provided in this section also applies. With regard to data processing by the third-party provider, please refer to its privacy policy.
6. Your rights

In addition to the right to withdraw the consent you have given to us, you have the following rights, provided that the respective legal requirements are met:
the right to obtain information about your personal data stored by us,
the right to request the correction of incorrect data or the completion of incomplete data,
the right to request the deletion of your data stored by us, unless legal or contractual retention periods or other legal obligations or rights prevent this,

the right to data portability,
the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
6.2. Right to object
You may object to the processing of your data at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation.
The general right to object described above applies to all processing purposes described in this privacy statement which are based on legitimate interests. Unlike the special right to object to data processing for advertising purposes, we are only obliged to implement such a general objection if you provide us with overriding reasons.
7. Changes to this statement
We revise this privacy statement whenever changes are made to this website or on other occasions that make it necessary.
The current version is always available on this website. You should therefore visit this website regularly in order to be informed about the current status of the privacy statement.
